
Why we stopped making “disposable” bathroom heaters
Most infrared heaters are basically sealed boxes. That’s a problem. Because the moment a heating tube burns out—which usually happens after a few years of heavy use—the whole thing is trash. You can’t fix it, so it goes straight into a landfill. We thought that was pretty stupid. So we changed how we build them.
The beauty of the “plug-and-play” approach
We decided to make the heating modules independent. Instead of soldering wires directly to the terminals (which is a pain and a half), we switched to standardized connectors. Now, you don’t have to mess around stripping wires or rebuilding a circuit just to swap a tube. You just pop the old module out and drop a new one in. It’s fast. Really fast. We’re talking about turning an hour of tedious teardown into about ten minutes of actual work.
Dealing with the heat
Here’s the thing: shortwave infrared tubes get incredibly hot. If you jam these modules too close together, you’ll warp the outer frame. To stop that, we built in specific air gaps. It keeps the heat where it belongs. The tube hits peak temperature instantly, but the mounting brackets stay cool enough that you can handle them without needing some fancy specialized tool.
The one catch
Now, there is a trade-off. Because we use connectors instead of hard-wiring, there are more contact points. If a clip isn’t seated firmly, it can arc and burn out the socket. It’s a simple mistake, but a costly one. To help out, we use high-temp ceramics for the holders. They’re tough. But you still can’t skip that final “snap-fit” check. Just make sure it clicks.
Making life easier for the pros
If you’re a facility manager looking after hundreds of these units, this is where it gets interesting. You don’t need to call in a licensed electrician every time a bulb goes out. A technician can just carry a kit of spare modules and refresh an entire floor of bathrooms in a fraction of the time it would take to replace the whole fixture. It just makes sense.
