They’ve been told for years that if they don&amp;rsquo;t buy the &amp;ldquo;original&amp;rdquo; brand, the part won&amp;rsquo;t fit or—even worse—it&amp;rsquo;ll fry the controller.&#xA;Here is the secret: infrared heating is just physics. It isn&amp;rsquo;t magic. If the wattage, voltage, and size match up, you can swap the lamp out and keep moving. Simple as that.&#xA;&lt;strong&gt;Getting the fit right&lt;/strong&gt;&#xA;To make a swap work without any headaches, the electrical specs have to be a mirror image.&#xA;If your machine wants a 230V 1500W tube and you throw in a 200W version, your timber just isn&amp;rsquo;t going to cure. On the flip side, going too high on the wattage is a great way to trip your breakers or actually melt your wiring. Not a fun afternoon.&#xA;Then there&amp;rsquo;s the physical side of things. Whether you&amp;rsquo;re dealing with an R7s or an SK15 connector, the pins have to line up perfectly. Even a tiny millimeter of difference means you&amp;rsquo;re forcing the lamp into the socket. That puts stress on the quartz glass, and once that glass is stressed, it&amp;rsquo;ll likely crack the moment it heats up.&#xA;&lt;strong&gt;What&amp;rsquo;s actually inside the tube?&lt;/strong&gt;&#xA;We use high-purity quartz glass because we need that shortwave IR transmission. For timber, shortwave is the only way to go. It actually penetrates the wood instead of just scorching the surface and leaving the inside raw.&#xA;One thing to keep an eye on is the coating. You&amp;rsquo;ll see some lamps with gold or aluminum finishes to push the heat forward. It makes the heat denser on the wood, which is great, but it also makes the tube itself run hotter. Just make sure your cooling fans are actually doing their job, or you&amp;rsquo;ll burn through your filaments way faster than you should.&#xA;&lt;strong&gt;A quick heads-up on power&lt;/strong&gt;&#xA;Domestic lamps put out the same heat as those expensive European brands. But, you have to be honest about your power grid.&#xA;If your shop floor has &amp;ldquo;dirty&amp;rdquo; power with constant spikes, any filament—no matter how expensive the brand—is going to pop. If your electricity is a bit jumpy, just toss a voltage stabilizer in the mix. It&amp;rsquo;s a cheap way to make sure your lamps actually last.&lt;/p&gt;</description>
