We built this freestanding fireplace heater with one clear mission in mind: give you focused warmth and help you stop mold before it even thinks about showing up, especially in humid bathrooms. It all starts with a shortwave infrared lamp that does way more than just heat the air. It actually changes the environment mold depends on. And to keep things dry, we added backup dehumidification support.
The Heart of It
Here’s the thing—this heater is all about speed and power, packed into a small footprint. We set it to run on 220–240V, pulling 1500–2000W. That means it warms up fast, holds steady, and doesn’t trip your wiring. The tube is 300–400mm long, just the right size to concentrate heat where you need it most. So you get quick surface warmth, which helps cut down on that annoying condensation on cold walls and fixtures.
What It’s Made Of
Inside, we use a halogen-filled quartz tube. It keeps the filament temperature steady and shields the element from the stress of constant heating and cooling. We chose shortwave infrared because it cuts through water films and warms surfaces directly, not the air. That matters because it shortens the time the room stays in mold-friendly conditions. The unit uses an R7s connector, so installation is straightforward and secure. And we put a protective coating on the reflector to keep it reflecting strong over time—because if the reflector degrades, you lose output.
Real-World Use
In a bathroom, mold has two best friends: moisture and cool surfaces. This heater tackles both. The infrared light dries surfaces fast, and the auxiliary dehumidification pulls extra moisture from the air. Plus, the freestanding design gives you flexibility. You can place it right where condensation hits hardest—no need for complicated ductwork or a permanent install. But let’s be honest: because it runs hot, you need proper ventilation and cooling. If the room can’t handle the heat and moisture, the system will fight an uphill battle. For engineers and facility buyers, it’s a practical, ready-to-install way to keep a space warm and keep humidity under control at the source.
